Cork has been named the best place to celebrate New Year’s festivities in Ireland, according to a new ranking from online gambling company Betway.
New research from Betway, which also analyzed Instagram data, gave Coke a 4.7 out of 5 on Google and a 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor.
Achill Island in Mayo and Dublin’s New Year Festival are jointly ranked second as the best places to celebrate the New Year in Ireland, with Achill scoring 4.6 on both Google and TripAdvisor.
Although Dublin New Year’s Festival received slightly lower ratings on both sites, it ranked highly on Instagram for hashtags, with over 770,000 hashtags associated with the festival.
The festival is known for its live music, street performances and fireworks display, and this year will feature Irish artists Lee Hart and Sharon Shannon.
Galway has been ranked fourth in Ireland as the best place to celebrate the New Year in Ireland, with high scores on both Google and TripAdvisor, in a new study.
This western city is known for its vibrant pub scene and live music, and its atmosphere and charm make it popular with Irish and international tourists alike.
In fifth place, Sligo’s majestic Mount Ben Bulben represents a classic New Year’s destination, while the seaside town of Dingle on Kerry comes in sixth place.
Dingle has become a hugely popular New Year’s destination in recent years, with fireworks displays over Dingle Bay and streetside celebrations.
Rounding out the list is Doolin in Co Clare. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, Doolin is considered the home of Irish music and is also known for its surfing.
