Better Energy and Andel develop 2GW solar energy park in Denmark | News

Must read

Better Energy and Danish energy distributor Andel have partnered to develop 15 solar energy parks with a capacity of 2GWp in Denmark over the next four years.

The partnership will invest more than €1 billion in park construction between 2024 and 2028, with each partner expected to own 50% of the completed portfolio.

Better Energy is expected to manage the development, construction and technical operations of the park.

The first four energy parks will be built in the Danish municipalities of Solo, Voldingborg, Guldborgsund and Nesved. All four parks are expected to begin production this year or next.

Rasmus Lildholdt Kjær, CEO of Better Energy, said: “The partnership with Andel will have a direct impact on Denmark’s green transition. Andel, one of Denmark’s largest companies in terms of revenue, will soon become Denmark’s largest co-owner in onshore green energy production. We are all proud to be able to call ourselves one.

“We are in a hurry, and the speed of the green transition is critical to the world we will live in 10, 20, 30 years from now. This agreement is an important step in the right direction.”

Jesper Yurmand, CEO of Ander, said: Onshore wind and solar power are the fastest ways to expand renewable energy in Denmark. Therefore, it makes sense to step up efforts on solar power.

“This is a very ambitious agreement that will increase the total renewable energy production in Denmark and has a significant impact on Ander’s goal of reaching 10 TWh of renewable energy production in 2035. Let’s go.”

Mark Augustenborg Ødum, CFO of Better Energy, said: “As a partner, we will be joining the Energy Park portfolio. Through this partnership, Ander will gain direct ownership of green energy production in Denmark and Better Energy will have renewable energy production across the Danish, Polish, Swedish and Finnish markets. We can continue to accelerate the pace of expansion of available energy.”
