Helsinki, January 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Two days ago, a severe snowstorm hit southern and central Finland, disrupting commuters and public transport.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) warned on Thursday of potentially dangerous driving conditions in most parts of the country.
According to Xinhua news agency, FMI said 10 to 20 centimeters of fresh snow is expected in southern Finland, and 3 to 8 centimeters in central Finland.
Japan National Railways operator VR announced on Thursday that more than 10 long-distance and local trains had been delayed or canceled.
Meanwhile, the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) announced that around 100 bus services have been canceled and trams in central Helsinki will be running reduced numbers on Thursday due to severe weather conditions.
Finnish airport operator Finavia also announced on Wednesday night that the weather could cause delays to airport operations and flights to and from Helsinki International Airport.
There were some minor crashes in southern Finland on Thursday, but no major accidents were reported, according to the Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat.
