BMH Technology, a leading provider of biomass processing solutions, recently signed an agreement with Finland’s Kokkolan Energia. The contract includes the delivery and installation of a state-of-the-art biomass fuel processing system that will significantly increase the power plant’s capacity.
BMH Technology’s new biomass fuel processing system will double the power plant’s fuel acceptance capacity while significantly increasing its fuel storage capacity by a factor of four. This upgrade will enable Kokkolan Energia to reduce its reliance on peat as a fuel source and prioritize renewable energy sources instead.
Kokkoran Energia’s existing system will be replaced with BMH Technology’s advanced biomass fuel processing system, which will serve as the primary means of fueling the power plant’s boilers. Tomi Korpi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Coccoran Energia, emphasized that this investment in renewable energy infrastructure will enable the company to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly energy solutions. “This is an important investment on our path towards carbon-neutral energy production,” said Korpi.
Ari Nirokorpi, senior vice president of BMH Technologies, added that the new biomass fuel processing system will contribute to a significant reduction in fossil fuel usage. He expressed satisfaction with the continued cooperation between BMH Technology and Kokkolan Energia, having previously successfully implemented similar projects to reduce dependence on peat and gas.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with the biomass fuel processing system delivered, installed and operational. This investment marks another step for both BMH Technology and Kokkolan Energia in their joint journey towards sustainable energy production.
