Pete Wilkins has given an update on Mack Hansen after the Ireland winger was forced off injured in the game against Munster on New Year’s Day.
Connacht inflicted further misery on Munster as JJ Hanrahan’s boot was key in the deplorable conditions at the Sports Ground following a 22-9 derby win.
But it wasn’t all smiles as there are major concerns over Ireland and Connacht winger Mack Hansen.
Hansen required oxygen after being helped off the pitch in the dying moments of the URC Interpro Derby game.
He injured his shoulder during the final stages of a fierce battle between the neighbors in the Galway heat.
The 25-year-old has just returned from a foot injury originally sustained during the Rugby World Cup.
The injury recurred in early December against Bordeaux-Begles, and he subsequently returned.
And after the Derby Day win, Wilkins said the Ireland winger would need to be tested.
“Mack injured his shoulder and had a clean out on that breakdown,” Connacht said.
“We will have to assess the seriousness of it.
“To be honest, Mac is in quite a bit of pain downstairs, but we’re going to get a scan to see how he’s doing.”
Ireland manager Andy Farrell will anxiously await news on the extent of the injury with the Six Nations Championship just weeks away.
