In the small village of Curriehana, located in the south of County Armagh, a local team is making history.
St Patrick’s Cullyhana GAA will compete in the All-Ireland interim final against Cyr na Maltola on Sunday.
It will be the biggest game in the club’s history, and some local supporters say it will be a dream the team has never been able to fulfill.
The BBC spoke to children at local schools who have friends and family in the team and who believe their team will win.
‘once in a lifetime’
There are many reasons why Lily-Mae is excited about the game, one of which is that her father is on the team.
“We’re so proud of him. He’s an unbelievable guy. He coached me and my sister. If it wasn’t for my dad, I wouldn’t be playing soccer. .”
After attending 164 training sessions with the team this season, she said she wouldn’t miss a match in Croke Park for the world.
“I’ll be there, I’ll be the No. 1 supporter cheering from the sidelines.
“For our players, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that some may never experience again, so we can’t take it for granted.”
When asked if she thought the cup would be returned, she was cautiously optimistic.
“I think it’s going to be a close fight, but I think Calliehanna will come out on top. It’s going to be incredible for Calliehanna as a whole. It’s going to be a great match.”
James has played in all but one game this season.
“I’m going to the game with my family…I think Calliehanna will win and take it home to Calliehanna.
This is my first time so I hope that happens. ”
When asked who his favorite player was, he had several candidates.
“My cousin is also on the team…but I chose Aidan Nugent!”
It’s been a long wait for Sean, but he’s confident Callie Hanna will win.
“I think Callie Hannah will win by a huge margin. I was so excited at school and while waiting for the game…I can’t wait!”
Sean said it would be a big deal for Cullyhanna if St Patrick’s won. “I think everyone will be celebrating at the club. Everyone is really excited about this game.”
The match, which kicks off at 15:30 GMT on Sunday 14 January from Croke Park in Dublin, will be broadcast live on the BBC Sport website and app.
