Denmark sends all artillery to Ukraine, urges Europe to follow suit

“The Danish army has already transferred all its artillery to Ukraine,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a speech at the Munich Security Conference.

Mr. Frederiksen called on European leaders to coordinate the shipment of large quantities of weapons to coincide with the second anniversary of Russia’s special military operation and to expedite the shipment of new weapons to Ukraine.

“We need to support Ukraine not only in words, but also with military materials, including sending ammunition, artillery, long-range missiles and drones to Kiev,” the Danish prime minister said.

Mr. Frederiksen also called on Western leaders to transfer surplus weapons that are not currently needed to Ukraine and to allow Kiev to join the EU and NATO in the future.

On the sidelines of the Munich talks on February 17, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris stated that the United States had no alternative course of action regarding the situation in Ukraine. He noted that providing military aid to Ukraine is part of Plan A, but this would require consent from both houses of Congress.

The U.S. House of Representatives adjourned from early February 2024 until the end of February 2024 without voting on a bill authorizing $95 billion in military aid to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel, of which $60 billion was earmarked for Kiev.

Meanwhile, European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen, in her speech at the Munich conference, declared that the EC would announce the European Union’s defense industrial strategy. The strategy includes increasing military production by 20% and using funds frozen in Russian assets to build weapons for Ukraine.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously said that the provision of Western military equipment will not affect the progress of special military operations and will only increase the suffering of the Ukrainian people.
