The Queen of Denmark is “afraid of losing Mary” and may have decided to abdicate following rumors of an affair involving her son, Crown Prince Frederik, according to a royal commentator.
Queen Margrethe will step down as king on January 14, an unexpected move following rumors of an “infidelity” between Frederik and a Mexican socialite.

Queen Margrethe will be the first Danish monarch to abdicate in more than 500 years.
She had previously hinted she intended to rule for life, like her third cousin Queen Elizabeth, who ruled for more than 70 years until her death in September 2022.

Mr Dampier also told the Telegraph:
“In two weeks, the prince and princess will be on stage together as king and queen, and they’ll have to deal with that.
“The Queen may think that by making up for their differences, they can save their marriage.”
