Fáilte Ireland has teamed up with the University of Galway to launch its first conference ambassador recruitment event aimed at engaging academics to promote international conferences in the Galway region.
The recruitment event, held at the University of Galway in January, provided an opportunity for Forte Ireland and the university to engage, motivate and inform potential conference ambassador candidates.
Conference Ambassador Program
Fáilte Ireland’s Conference Ambassador Program has been developed to support individuals who wish to host an international conference in Ireland.
The program provides assistance and financial support at every stage of the conference, from initial bidding to event marketing and promotion.
Ambassadors are sector leaders or influencers in their field and since the program was established in 2009, Forte Ireland has recruited around 3,000 people who aim to host conferences and events worth more than €2 billion. We have supported our ambassadors.
“International conference business”
“Business events and conferences are one of the most profitable sectors in tourism, with each international conference participant worth more than three times as much as a tourist,” said Paul, Commercial Development Director at Forte Ireland. Mokler said.
“Fáilte Ireland currently has a pipeline of international conference business worth €1.1 billion for Ireland, including 72 international events scheduled to be held at the University of Galway, with 16,278 international Representatives are expected to attend and it will be worth €35 million to the region.”
global collaboration
Fáilte Ireland said Galway is an important hub for international conferences and Galway University expects more than 6,000 delegates to attend 30 conferences on campus this year.
These conferences bring together academics, researchers, physicians, industry leaders, policy makers and others to share insights and research that can lead to global collaboration.
“Creating opportunities”
“Sponsoring a conference has tremendous benefits at both an individual and organizational level, and from a higher education perspective, it helps increase not only the visibility of academics, but also the reputation of the profession, school, or institution.” said the Chancellor of Galway University. Ciaran Ó Hogartay.
“This provides an important opportunity to showcase and promote research and discoveries, network with experts in the same research field and share best practice.
“This can support career development and enhance our academic reputation as a leading voice and thinker among our peers and the industry at large, as well as generate further collaboration and grant opportunities.”
