Helsinki, February 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Finnish government has decided to keep its land border with Russia closed until mid-April, citing security concerns.
All crossing points on Finland’s eastern border have been closed to passenger traffic since mid-December, Xinhua News Agency said.
The country closed its first border crossing in mid-November in response to illegal immigration.
According to the Interior Ministry, illegal immigrants to Finland are mainly from the Middle East and Africa, and half of them have applied for asylum. Some of them appear to have left Finland and traveled to other parts of the European Union.
