The wait is over. Eel has confirmed that Windows95man will represent Finland at Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. There was speculation surrounding the musical duo’s participation due to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Windows95man has expressed his opposition to Israel’s participation in this year’s Eurovision. Additionally, the UMK winners asked for time to think about whether or not to compete in Malmö under the current circumstances.

First of all, public broadcaster Yell recognized the difficult circumstances surrounding the ongoing conflict. However, they said they would abide by the EBU’s decision to allow Israel to participate.
Eel has decided to respect the decision of the European Broadcasting Union EBU regarding television companies taking part in the competition. We understand that there are many legitimate points of view on this issue. Mr Eel informed the EBU about the discussions in Finland and the Finnish representative’s views on the situation. I hope that the situation in the Middle East will be resolved as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Windows95man reiterated his opposition to Israel’s participation in Eurovision.Additionally, the band said in an official statement that they, along with other representatives, will use their platform to raise awareness and put pressure on the EBU.
We believe that the only correct decision for the EBU is to exclude Israel from the competition. However, we do not believe that withdrawing ourselves will have an impact. Instead, We have begun discussions with other delegates on how to explore strategies to leverage our collective influence and use our position to put pressure on EBU decision-makers.. The decision was difficult, but now it’s made. We would like to thank everyone for their support. From now on, I will focus on the music and building the show. ”
