Finland’s quantum landscape is receiving a significant boost with the Finnish Research Council allocating €13 million to the Finnish Quantum Flagship (FQF), which will launch an ambitious eight-year project from March 2024. Cooperation of renowned institutions such as Aalto University, VTT Technical Research In collaboration with the FQF Center and other institutions, FQF aims to put Finland at the forefront of quantum research and development. Professor Peter Liljeroth, who heads his FQF at Aalto University, highlights the unique spirit of cooperation between Finnish companies in the global quantum competition.

Beyond borders, FQF is committed to Nordic and international cooperation, in particular the Nordic Quantum initiative and strengthening relationships with a wide range of partners in the United States and Europe. The FQF will work to attract talent, commit funding to foster research, industry partnerships, open access education programs, and raise awareness of quantum technologies. As part of InstituteQ, established in 2021, FQF is poised to drive excellence in research, technology adoption and national training initiatives, solidifying Finland’s leadership in the field of dynamic quantum technologies.
