Commercial flights to and from almost all Finnish airports were significantly reduced during the first two days of February as airport workers took part in a nationwide political strike demanding the government reverse planned labor market reforms. It is expected to be suspended.

Finnair has not yet made any changes to its flight program for February 1-2, but offers customers the opportunity to change their flight to another Finnair flight so that the flight does not fall on a strike date. doing.

Finnair will begin canceling flights as soon as the impact of the strike on Finnair traffic becomes clear, and will then directly notify all customers whose flights have been canceled and who have not yet rescheduled their travel dates of the cancellation. It’s a schedule. Customers can find up-to-date contact information on the Finnair website under ‘Manage Reservations’. If you have not changed your flight date and need to cancel your flight, Finnair will offer you a new route to your destination.
“We aim to redirect customers to flights before and after the strike. As soon as a flight cancellation occurs, we will communicate directly to customers about flight changes,” Paajanen says.
During the strike period, there may be disruptions to ground services, baggage handling, and food and beverage catering on flights. Political strikes may also be seen in traffic jams the day after the strike, as all Finnair flights are round trips and the scheduled return of canceled flights may also take place the next day.
“We deeply regret that our customers’ business and leisure travel plans are being disrupted due to political action unrelated to Finnair. It affects the image they have of Finland,” Paajanen says.
In a press release issued on Friday, the JHL union said the strike would affect operations at all Finavian airports, with the exception of the smaller airports in Hali and Utti near the cities of Kouvola in central Finland. It pointed out.
