Finnair is preparing for air traffic disruption due to 48 hours of industrial action announced by several Finnish trade unions on February 1-2, 2024. The company expects its operations to be significantly impacted, resulting in flight cancellations affecting approximately 60,000 customers.
Finnair has not yet changed its flight program for the specified dates, but is offering affected customers the option to reschedule their flights to avoid the strike period. Travelers who book between January 31 and February 3 can change their travel dates to earlier or later dates until March 15, 2024, depending on ticket type.
Finnair will begin canceling flights and contact affected customers directly as soon as the extent of the strike’s impact is clear. The airline is advising customers to be patient as they aim to redirect customers to alternative flights and customer service may be busy during this period.
Ground services, baggage handling, and catering are expected to be disrupted during the strike period, which may also affect flight operations the day after the strike. Finnair regrets the disruption caused by political action unrelated to its operations and offers affected customers the least amount of uncertainty in their travel plans. Therefore, we encourage you to find suitable alternative flights in advance.
