Former Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubbe has won the presidential election, securing his position as the Nordic nation’s 13th president. He defeated former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto in a high-profile election campaign.
The National Coalition candidate narrowly defeated Haavisto of the liberal Green Party, but Haavisto gracefully conceded and congratulated Alexander on his election as Finland’s 13th president.

Mr Stubb declared himself the winner in the run-off, winning 51.6% of the votes with a vote count rate of 99.7%, according to Ministry of Justice data reported by Reuters. Harvist followed with 48.4%.
