A former Irish League footballer appeared at the High Court in Dublin on an extradition warrant issued by Northern Ireland authorities.
Kenneth Joseph Orman, 41, will stand trial in the same jurisdiction over an incident that occurred during a match between his then club Portadown FC and Cliftonville on December 10, 2016. is required.
In a writ of surrender, Mr Oman allegedly elbowed then-Cliftonville player Caoichhin Bonner in the mouth during a Northern Ireland Football League Premiership match at Solitude in Belfast. He is accused of having.
The incident, missed by the referee but caught on TV, left Bonner with severe injuries, including a fractured upper jaw and two front teeth being knocked out. Center back Oman was subsequently suspended for six games by the Irish Football Association, according to a warrant. The matter was also referred to the PSNI.
Mr Oman, who is based in Dublin, was invited to be interviewed by the PSNI about the incident, but it is claimed he refused to attend. Following the incident, authorities in Northern Ireland laid a single charge of grievous bodily harm against Mr Oman.
Because he lives outside its jurisdiction, a Belfast court last year issued a warrant for his arrest to stand trial. Mr Oman was taken to a recess bench at the High Court in Dublin on Monday following an extradition request.

Judge Holland granted Mr Oman bail on conditions including providing €100 as his own surety and €1,000 as an independent surety. He is also to keep the peace, not leave the jurisdiction, regularly sign in at Garda stations and reside at an address in Glasnevin Downs, Dublin 11. The matter will return to court later this month.
During his career, Mr Oman played for Shamrock Rovers, Derry City, Bohemians FC and St Patrick’s Athletic in the League of Ireland. He was part of several teams that won the Premier Division, FAI and League Cup. He finished his senior football career with Portadown in 2017.
