Both players came off injured as the Derry side defeated Kilmacud Crokes 1-14 to 2-10 in the semi-final.

Full-back Dougan is nursing a hamstring injury, while center half-forward Doherty has an ankle problem.

“We’re hopeful that they’ll be fit to start the game,” O’Rourke said.

“Obviously it would be a big bonus for us and we think so at the moment.”

O’Rourke revealed that neither player had taken part in training since the last-four clash at Newry on January 7.

“They are undergoing intensive treatment. We are in a race against time and are doing everything possible to get them right. At this stage, we are confident that both of them will be able to start.” ”explained the former Monaghan manager.

“They’re just rehabbing at the moment, but hopefully they can be on the field this week. We obviously need that. For now, they’re just recovering.”

“Hopefully we’ll know more towards the weekend, but I hope they’re OK.”
