Roastery Coffee House will open its first international store in Finland in March 2024. This will be the first Indian coffee chain in Scandinavia and his second Indian coffee chain in Europe.
The Hyderabad-based specialty coffee roaster, which operates seven stores across India, laid the foundation for its market entry by holding a three-day coffee pop-up event in Helsinki in December 2023. Roastery Coffee House plans to open his kiosk pop-up regularly in Helsinki. In preparation for its brick-and-mortar debut, it will open in the Finnish capital in the first quarter of 2024.
“Roastery Coffee House, which started as a small venture dream to make specialty coffee available in India, is now making global waves by establishing the name of an Indian brand in Europe and Finland. Our decision to expand comes from the shared passion for premium coffee between our two countries,” said Nishant Sinha, founder of Roastery Coffee House.
Roastery Coffee House says on social media that its aim is to “share the Finnish appreciation for simplicity, quality of life and great coffee, and India’s rich artisanal tradition of coffee making, brewing and warm hospitality.” He said it was about connecting.
Finland’s branded coffee shop market is relatively small, with three major chains – Espresso House, Picnic and Roberts Coffee – accounting for 70% of the market share with a combined 245 stores. However, the Scandinavian country has the highest per capita coffee consumption in the world, with Finnish consumers drinking up to four cups a day on average.
Roastery Coffee House is entering relatively unexplored territory with its debut in Helsinki, and is the first to enter Europe since Café Coffee Day launched in Austria in 2005 and the Czech Republic in 2010, respectively. It has become an Indian coffee chain. The Bangalore-based coffee chain ended its European operations in 2019.
