Ireland calls for support for Bloody Sunday march and rally in Derry

Must read

People Before Profit has called on people in Derry and across Ireland to support the 52nd Bloody Sunday March.

Spokesman Sean Harkin said: “The world is watching in horror as the genocide is taking place in Gaza. More than 25,000 people have been killed, more than 10,000 of whom are children.”

“We will march in solidarity with the people of Gaza and all of Palestine as we remember the innocent victims of state-sanctioned murder in our city.

“The same British government that sent Paras to the Bogside to kill Derry residents is today sending weapons to apartheid Israel and deliberately slaughtering civilians, including children, in Gaza.

“Joe Biden is being held up as a friend of Ireland and the peace process. But he can stop the Palestinian genocide with just a phone call. “I’m writing a blank check,” Sean Harkin said.

Representatives from People Before Profit praised the march’s organizers for their commitment to justice and internationalism.

“It is no surprise that the Bloody Sunday March Committee has put Palestine at the center of its march for justice,” he said.

“The Bloody Sunday Movement has always stood against state violence and championed the cause of oppressed peoples anywhere in the world.

“It really is One World, One Struggle.”

Chief Harkin said the families of Bloody Sunday were an inspiration to all those fighting for justice.

“The People Before Profit pays tribute to the courage and resilience of the families of the victims of Bloody Sunday, who have campaigned for truth and justice for more than 50 years.

“We will continue to work with them to oppose the UK Government’s legacy legislation. There can be no amnesty for state-sponsored murderers.

“Let us send a message to the world that the people of Delhi are still crying out against injustice even after all this time.

“We hope that people from Derry and across the island will come march in large numbers to support the continued struggle of the families of Bloody Sunday and to support Palestine.”
