The first baby born this year is thought to have been delivered just minutes after midnight at Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital.
The hospital confirmed today that a baby boy, Arlo Robert Emmett, was born at four minutes past midnight this morning.
Baby Arlo, who weighed 4.2 kg (9 pounds, 4 ounces), was adopted by parents Nicole and Robert Emmett from Ashbourne.

Just two minutes after Arlo came into the world, baby Mirha was delivered at Coombe Hospital in Dublin.
Born at 12:06 a.m., Mirha weighed 2.21 kg (4 pounds, 14 ounces) and was brought into the world by her Pakistani mother, Sundas Khan.

Outside of Dublin, Daniel’s first baby, Amelia, was born at 12.13am at Letterkenny Hospital in County Donegal, weighing 3.65kg.
