Jamie Dornan has opened up about filming the second season of hit series The Tourist in his Irish homeland.
The County Down native will reprise his role as Elliot in the second season of The Tourist. The season will premiere on BBC iPlayer on January 1st and will be available on Netflix in February in the US.
The first season of The Tourist, which was the most-watched drama across all platforms in the UK in 2022, was set in Australia, but the new season sees Elliot (Dornan) and Helen (Danielle MacDonald) explore Ireland. It depicts the journey. The answer to Elliot’s true identity.
“hoping [viewers] I hope you enjoy it as much as you enjoyed the first season,” Dornan said upon the release of the new season.
“We’re offering something a little different, purely geographically. It feels like the color of the outback, its scale, its horror, were key characters in the first series.
“This time we’ve removed that and suddenly gone from the orange dirt of the outback to the lush surroundings of Ireland, especially in the first episode, which looks like an advertisement for Tourism Ireland.
“It’s something different and I hope people go into it and get the same kind of satisfaction as the first series.
“It’s got all the humor and the story is just as crazy as the first series.”
Mr Dornan added: “I left Ireland 22 years ago and have traveled almost everywhere since then and have found Ireland to be truly appealing.
“People are fascinated by Ireland, and I feel like everyone has a little bit of love for the place and the people. Usually people who have been here remember Ireland and… I talk about it very fondly.
“We hope it’s a big appeal. We’re showcasing Ireland in a big way with a lot of Irish talent and some really interesting Irish people.”
Season 2 of The Tourist, set in Ireland, introduces new characters played by Conor McNeil, Niamh Cassidy, Diarmaid Murtagh, Nessa Matthews, Mark McKenna and Frances McGee.

Dornan went on to say that filming in Ireland was “amazing.”
“On the first day of filming, we were in Kilpedar, Wicklow, and as we were walking through the trees it started to rain, the heaviest rain I had ever seen, and I realized that this is what it’s like to film in Ireland. I thought,” he said. .
“I forgot it’s been three or four years since we shot here, but Ireland is beautiful. I’ve been to parts of Ireland that I’ve never been to before, mainly Dublin and Wick. We shot in Lowe, but from there we were able to travel a little bit further out and showcase what a beautiful place Ireland is.
“It was so much fun working with an Irish crew with a similar sense of humour. It was a dream to film here.”
Dornan separately told Radio Times: “I’m very biased, but I think the Irish are the best people in the world and I’ve been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to make a lot of work in Ireland in my life.
“And I don’t think you can beat the Irish crew. There’s a general upbeat atmosphere and everyone’s having fun. They’re professional, they work really hard, and they’re very good at what they do. , there’s just a seriousness to the level of fun of making art there.
“So I was a very happy boy.”
