Jonathan Afolabi has announced his intention to break into the Republic of Ireland first team.
The 23-year-old striker completed a move to Belgian club KV Kortrijk after finishing his season with Bohemians.
Afolabi scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Gypsies in 2023 and was nominated for PFAI Player of the Year.
Due to his good form, he was called up by manager Stephen Kenny to the Irish first team for the Euro 2024 qualifier at home against the Netherlands, but he has yet to earn a cap.
And after putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal with the Belgian Professional League’s underground side, Afolabi has outlined plans to break into the national team.
He said: “Now that I’ve had a taste, I want to get back as soon as possible. So I’ll keep my head down and keep working and whatever happens will happen.”

“That’s the goal: keep working, stay fit, score goals and stay in the eyes of the manager. It’s always great to play for your country. I hope that day will come for me too. ”
Bohemians are thought to be interested in signing Dundalk legend Patrick Hoban to replace Afolabi.
His departure is a blow for Bohemians, who are thought to be interested in Dundalk’s Patrick Hoban, who have already signed Rob Cornwall and Dale Rooney.
And Afolabi insisted he will continue to closely monitor how Bose fares in 2024.
Striker said: “It has been a pleasure and an honor to play for Boas for the past year and a half.
“I would like to thank the coaching staff, teammates and fans for making it such a fun time here.
“I will continue to move forward with many good memories and moments throughout my career that have helped me grow.
“Finally, I would like to wish the club all the best for the future.
“I will be rooting for them from afar. Please aim for Bose.”
