Live Nation Denmark is teaming up with the city of Esbjerg to launch a new festival this summer.
Suset Festival will be held for the first time on August 16-17, with Danish pop duo Nik & Jay confirmed as the first headliners. The line-up also includes Andreas Odbjerg, DAD, Medina, Barcelona, Gobs, ICEKIID and Pill, with further appearances yet to be announced.
Located in the port of Esbjerg, the site will be set against an industrial backdrop including offshore wind turbines, cranes, containers, cargo ships and drilling rigs.
Festival director Tobias Kippenberger, a native of the city and former frontman of Danish rock band The Floor Is Made of Lava, is fulfilling his long-held ambition to launch a festival in his hometown. .
“Susset will be a festival of great ambition and quality. We are all looking forward to spending magical days together in Esbjerg Harbor,” says Kippenberger. “Together with Nick and Jay, we’re kicking off the ball by bringing one of the country’s most powerful live names back to Esbjerg for the first time in seven years. We’re sure it’s going to be a big party when audiences can experience Suset ” for the first time this summer. ”

A one-day ticket costs DKK795 (€107). While the initial program focuses on domestic artists, organizers say the long-term goal is to create a festival bill featuring top national and international artists.
“We partnered with the best people in the music industry to create a music lighthouse right on the quay, where you can experience the currents of the North Sea,” says Esbjerg Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen. “This festival will add a new dimension to the perception of what Esbjerg is and at the same time mark Esbjerg strongly on the cultural map. This is a major and decisive step in our efforts to do so.”
The concert venue is being leased from NorSea, which operates an offshore energy supply base, and activities will be moved to another part of the port for six weeks around the festival date.
“We want to support the culture of Esbjerg and also the ambition to take it to a new level,” says NorSea MD Jesper Høj-Hansen. “If this means we have to change our logistics for a period of time, we will be happy to make those changes.”
