A 44-year-old man was charged with the attempted murder of Chief Inspector John Caldwell in County Tyrone last year.
That man is arrested He was charged in the Dungannon area on Thursday and was arraigned on Friday night.
He has been charged with attempted murder, terrorism instructions and preparing terrorist acts.
The man is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning. Northern Ireland Police Said.
The senior police officer was seriously injured when he was shot multiple times in front of his son at a sports complex in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, on February 22, 2023.
The detective had investigated a number of high-profile murder cases and spent several weeks in intensive care.

A type of message, said to be from the New IRA, was posted on a wall in Londonderry, claiming the group was responsible for the shootings.
Police said the New IRA was the main focus of the investigation.
So far, a number of people have appeared in court on charges related to Caldwell’s shooting.
Mr Caldwell suffered “life-changing” injuries in the attack.
His first public appearance since the May shootings was at a garden party in Co Down. King and queen.
