Man without passport or boarding pass escapes security at Gatwick airport to board a jet bound for Denmark, causing second scare at British airport

A man bypassed security checks at Gatwick Airport and boarded a plane without showing his passport or boarding pass. This is the second such warning in the past week.

The Briton managed to sneak onto a Norwegian Air plane to reach the Danish capital Copenhagen undetected.

However, he was escorted out of the Boeing 737 by police after a suspicious crew member yelled at him before takeoff.

This comes a week after The Sun reported that a man had flown from the UK to New York without a passport or boarding pass.

And the latest security breach could raise new Home Office concerns about airport inspections.

The unnamed man is believed to have avoided check-in at Gatwick Airport around midday on Monday, February 5, and instead headed straight to the security area and boarding gate.

Officials said the suspect then “tailgated” other passengers through the security and passport checkpoints, and then apparently took a seat on the plane, avoiding the gate staff.

After he was removed, passengers had to briefly exit the plane for security screening.

A source told The Sun: “Although the man did not have a passport or a ticket, he brazenly tailgated himself through the security checkpoint without being noticed by other passengers and managed to board the plane at the gate.” I did,” he said.

“This is the second time something like this has happened recently. There is an urgent need to review security.”

A Gatwick Airport spokesperson insisted the person “has undergone security screening and there is no immediate safety risk.”

Sussex Police confirmed that officers removed the man from the plane at 12:15pm, but described it as a medical incident.

A spokesperson for the airport said: “Officers provided assistance to the airport security team following concerns for the man’s health.”

“In accordance with standard procedure, passengers were temporarily disembarked until the search was completed.

“They were then allowed to reboard the aircraft and then allowed to depart.”

Due to the medical nature of the incident, no criminal charges are believed to have been filed.

On Monday, we revealed that unemployed Craig Sturt, 46, boasted that he boarded a plane to New York without any relevant documents.

Mr Sturt turned up at Heathrow Airport on December 23 and went straight to the boarding pass security gate in Terminal 5.

Craig Sturt also boasted that he would be on a plane to New York this week.

The man is said to have passed through an automatic gate behind another passenger and followed the passenger through security and immigration.

Sturt then boarded a bus at BA’s departure gate along with hundreds of other passengers and was able to take a seat on the plane.

He was confronted by US officials at New York’s JFK airport and returned to the UK where he was convicted and has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.

An investigation has been launched into security procedures at Heathrow Airport.
