Treaty United captain Mark Rudden has brought an end to his League of Ireland career after 14 seasons and more than 400 appearances.
During that time, the 33-year-old Galway man has represented Melview United, Galway United and most recently Treaty United.
“All good things must come to an end,” he said on X (formerly Twitter).
“After 14 seasons and over 400 games with LOI, it’s time to retire.
“I met some amazing people on this trip, and I will be forever grateful for the memories and laughter.
“Thank you to everyone at Melview United, Galway United and Treaty United for the opportunity and pleasure of wearing the jersey every week.
“It has been an honor to represent my home county for so long and I could not have predicted how much I have enjoyed the last three years playing for Treaty.”
Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett praised his captain following the announcement of his departure.
He added: “Marc was a real pleasure to work with, had a positive influence on the team from day one, was a great leader and captain and will be greatly missed.”
“I have the utmost respect for Marc as a player and as a person and wish him and his family all the best for the future. They will always be welcome at Treaty United.”
