Kathmandu, January 11: Talks were held between Nepal and Ireland to strengthen cooperation and collaboration in the field of education.
The discussion took place between MPs and a visiting Irish delegation led by Irish Senate President Gerry Buttimer, who is on a five-day visit to Nepal. The program, organized by the Congress Secretariat, discussed matters related to the exchange of experiences on quality education, standardized testing, innovation, research, youth mobilization, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Buttimer said that through the cooperation of local communities and civil society, we can improve the quality and standard of education and explore new possibilities in the field of higher education.
Bhanubhakta Joshi, chairperson of the House Committee on Education, Health and Information Technology, spoke about the school education bill being considered by the committee to improve the quality of school education.
Professor Bhola Thapa, Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Dr. Roynath Pandey, Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, and Mr. Ramesh Silwal, President of Higher Educational Institutions and Secondary Schools Association of Nepal (HISSAN), spoke to the Irish delegation about education and academic activities in Nepal. He warned: Interest in following international good practice.
