Comber Brass has benefited from part of a New Year funding scheme from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Almost £400,000 in New Year’s funding will enable individual musicians, professional ensembles and amateur performance groups across Northern Ireland to purchase new instruments.
This comes after the Arts Council of Northern Ireland announced 43 capital funding awards from the community sector. This system has been in place for several years.
important plans
Commenting on the funding, Jilly Campbell, Joint Director of Arts Development at Arts Council Northern Ireland, said: “We are grateful for the capital investment from the Department for Communities and the Arts Council is delighted to announce this funding through the Instruments Programme.” commented.

The “Bands” portion of this initiative was created to support accordions, brass, flutes, pipes, wind instruments, and concert bands.
The beneficiary is the Comber Brass Band. For over 120 years, they have played a vibrant role in their local communities, performing at competitions and events.
youth band
In September 2022, they launched a youth band, helping to secure brass bands for future generations. Their £10,000 grant will go toward purchasing a new bass instrument and two baritone instruments.
