A weather warning is in place for Northern Ireland from 10am GMT on Thursday until 6am on Friday.

Rain, sleet and snow are expected Thursday, which could cause some disruption.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is predicting up to 2 centimeters of snow, with even more expected in higher ground areas.

It can reach 2-5 centimeters above 200 meters above the ground, and 15-25 centimeters above 400 meters above sea level.

There is also a risk of freezing.

Met Éireann has issued a snow and ice warning for all of Ireland, including the border counties of Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal, from 02:00 GMT until 18:00 GMT on Thursday.

“There is a possibility of a power outage.”

Snowfall is expected to taper off late Thursday, followed by a chance of rain and drizzle, especially in southern and eastern regions.

Along the coast, we’ll likely see more rain and sleet, while inland, snow is expected to spread south by Thursday morning and north by afternoon.

Strong easterly winds can cause mini-blizzard conditions.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, there is a slight possibility of power outages, which may affect services such as mobile phone coverage.

There is also a small chance that some rural communities will be divided.

Roads may be affected and travel delays or cancellations may occur on some rail and air routes.

Northern Ireland experienced its first deep freeze of the year last month as a frigid Arctic brought snow and ice.
