Here’s what you need to know about how Finland’s new Schengen visa rules will affect Indians.
If Finland has always been on your bucket list, this might be the year you decide to visit the Scandinavian country. If you are applying for a Schengen visa for Finland, there are some additional requirements that you need to be aware of.
To qualify for a visa to Finland, Indian travelers planning a visit will now need to provide details of additional funds and submit a sponsorship form from their host.
As of January 1, the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established new regulations for short-term visitors who wish to apply for a Schengen visa. These include the need to demonstrate that more funds are available. Travelers are currently required to provide a minimum of 50 euros for each day they spend in Finland. By the way, this is an increase of 20 euros from the previous requirement, or an increase of 66%. The increase in the economic requirements for visas is said to have been necessitated by the rising cost of living within Finland.
In addition to this increased financial requirement, Finland has also introduced a system for proof of sponsorship or accommodation. Hosts are currently required to complete a sponsorship form, and visa applicants must include this form with the rest of their application. This will enhance the transparency and accountability of financial arrangements for short-term stay applicants.
