A portrait of best-selling author Marian Keyes has been unveiled at the National Gallery of Ireland.
This portrait was painted by artist Margaret Corcoran, who studied art at the National College of Art and Design and Chelsea College of Art in London.
Marian Keyes is an award-winning author who has sold more than 30 million books worldwide during her career.
Born in Limerick, he grew up in Cork, Galway and Dublin, graduated from UCD with a law degree and moved to London in 1986.
Her first novel, Watermelon, was published in 1995, and since then she has published 15 novels in a total of 37 languages.
Over the past 29 years, Keyes has won various awards for his work, including Writer of the Year at the 2021 Irish Book Awards and the 2022 British Book Awards.
In addition to novels, Keyes has also published collections of journalism. She has recently branched out into broadcasting, releasing the podcast Now You’re Asking with Marian Keyes and Tara Flynn on BBC Sounds and her BBC Radio 4.
In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Limerick.
“Marian’s books mean so much to so many people on the island of Ireland and beyond. We are thrilled that her work will be exhibited at the National Gallery of Ireland,” said Caroline, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland. Dr. Campbell said.
Mr Keyes said it was “a surprise and a great honor” to be invited to have his portrait taken by the National Gallery.
“I was blown away by the finished portrait. I loved it. I loved it so much.” The colors, the textures, the atmosphere, so many little details. I don’t have the language to analyze art, but I feel like she captured me,” Keyes said.
“Her playfulness is definitely there. I’m really pleased and incredibly proud of this great honor. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this possible.”
