PPG completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project in Vantaa, Finland

Must read

PPG announced that it has completed the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project at the multipurpose center Rumo, a cultural and learning center in Vantaa, Finland. For this project, he enlisted 25 volunteers to transform Lumo’s lobby area into a colorful and exciting space.

The project was implemented in cooperation with the City of Vantaa, which owns the center. Rumo also has a municipal library and high school, as well as sports and cultural facilities. It serves as an important community gathering place and is located close to his PPG site in Vantaa. The center receives more than 500,000 visitors annually.

The centerpiece of the project is the mural “Forest Charm” designed by local artist Andrea Pukas. The mural is designed to bring Finnish nature to the Rumo walls and reflect the diversity of the space and the recreational opportunities it offers. The wall color was chosen by Irina Han hisolo, her manager of the PPG color category at the company Architectural Coatings.

The company provided 18 gallons (70 liters) of PPG’s TIKKURILA® paint for the project. We use Tikkurila Luja 7 paint, which contains an anti-mold agent to protect the paint film. This product has a low VOC emission level and is certified by both the Nordic Swan ecolabel and the EU ecolabel.

“About a week before we got the call from PPG, we were sitting in Lumo thinking about how we could make the lobby more welcoming,” said Rikka Åstrand, deputy mayor of Vantaa. . “PPG’s offer was almost like it was made to order. It wasn’t difficult for the volunteers to choose the space to paint. A huge thank you to her PPG for running the project so quickly and smoothly. The final result was wonderful.”

“The City of Vantaa has always been an important partner for us. We have collaborated in many ways, but this was the first Colorful Community project we have carried out together,” said PPG Vice President, EMEA said Meri Vainikka, Architectural Coatings, North and East and China. “At PPG, we know paint, which is why it makes sense for us to bring joy and color to the surrounding community with projects like this.”
