Russian President Vladimir Putin’s secret palatial residence has been discovered in northern Russia, according to the Documentation Center, an investigative agency.

The newspaper said the property, located in Karelia’s Marialavti Bay in northwestern Russia on the border with Finland, was financed by Mikhail Khodorkovsky, an exiled oligarch and rival of President Vladimir Putin.

The Documentation Center posted on YouTube a video it claims was filmed by a drone of President Putin’s secret escape.

According to the report, the complex includes “three modern-style houses, two helicopter pads, several yacht piers, a trout farm, and a farm with cattle that produces marbled beef. , and a private waterfall.”

The center said the property is located on the shores of Lake Lagoda, which is part of a national park and has a picturesque waterfall.

It is screened by a fence, monitored by electronic sensors and protected by a special security unit. The center said there were also markings on the ground indicating it was protected by air defense systems.

The news agency did not say how the drone was able to bypass security and film the premises.

The report, citing local residents, said Putin visits the facility once a year after visiting the nearby Valaam Monastery.

The center said work on the property began about 10 years ago and is part of Putin’s property portfolio, which is owned through a company controlled by investor Yuri Kovalchuk.

Business Insider was unable to independently verify the center’s claims and has contacted the Russian Embassy in the UK for comment.
