Princess Josephine paid a special tribute to her mother on the day she was sworn in as Queen of Denmark.
A 13-year-old girl looked like a shadow of her mother when she appeared on the balcony of Copenhagen’s Christiansborg Castle following the declaration by Denmark’s King Frederick X and Queen Mary.
Thousands of people gathered outside Christiansborg Castle on Sunday, setting up folding chairs and waving Danish flags to catch a glimpse of the royal family.
And Josephine, the youngest of the royal pair with her twin brother Prince Vincent, followed her mother’s style for the historic occasion.
In a sweet gesture, Josephine wore Prada’s £3,800 navy double-breasted coat. This is the same one Mary was photographed wearing in 2013.
To complete her look, the young royal wore her mother’s custom-made Dulong, a piece that Mary has worn continuously over the years, including to a reception at the Danish Mission to the United Nations in New York last October. Added Fine Jewelery rose quartz earrings.
Josephine combined her mother’s work with her own style, adding black ribbons to her hair.
The 13-year-old, who celebrated her birthday a week before her parents took the throne, completed her look with a pearl necklace.
This comes after a body language expert said Princess Josephine is “Prince Louis’ version” of the Danish royal family.
Adrianne Carter is on the family’s ‘front line’ as the cheeky teenager made headlines and made her first appearance at Christiansborg Palace before appearing again in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Amalienborg Palace. ”, he said in detail.
“He is kind to Josephine and reminds her to be in control,” she said of Josephine’s twin brother, Prince Vincent.
The pair excitedly waved to the crowd, but older brother Prince Christian, 18, and younger sister Isabella, 16, waved more modestly.
The newly crowned King and Queen of Denmark, Frederick and Mary, also shared a tender kiss.
The children also celebrated the momentous day with their parents on the balcony of Christiansborg Castle.
Queen Margrethe II’s abdication, announced on New Year’s Eve, has been formally announced, with Denmark’s King Frederick
It was also a big moment for Crown Prince Christian, who became first in line to the Danish throne on Sunday afternoon.
The 18-year-old, wearing a navy suit and white dress shirt, proudly waved to hundreds of royal watchers gathered below the balcony.
His younger brother Vincent looked similarly smart in a matching navy suit, but opted for a pink and blue striped tie instead of the block colors his older brother wore.
Princess Isabella, 16, opted for a bold red ensemble with her hair slicked back in a slick bun. She waved enthusiastically to the crowd and sang along to a performance of the Danish national anthem.
Her younger sister, Josephine, 13, was a bit shy and hid behind her mother.
But Mary quickly put an arm around her waist to reassure her, and she, too, wore a navy blue peacoat and waved to the crowd below.
There is little doubt that Frederick’s accession will be a turning point for the Danish royal family, which has so far enjoyed a relatively normal upbringing.
They attend public schools, are close to their Australian family, including their grandfather, Scottish-born mathematics professor John Donaldson, and live far from the glare of the public eye.
The children, and their royal parents, are just as likely to be spotted wearing puffa jackets and combat trousers as they are in suits, heels, and dresses.
They enjoy taking their Australian border collies, Grace, Coco, and Chloe, for walks, going to soccer games, and skiing.
Air and elegance are not encouraged at home. The family was captured in casual clothes, with Mary wearing glasses and a woolen jumper, and Isabella wearing a denim shirt, to decorate the Christmas tree in December.
