Queen Margrethe received the glamorous award one month after abdicating the Danish throne.

The former Queen of Denmark, who announced her intention to abdicate the throne on New Year’s Eve, won the costume designer of the year award.


“Margrethe II” won an award at the 41st Robert Awards, Denmark’s national film awards.

The awards ceremony was held on Saturday night and the awards were nominated by the Danish Film Academy.

The former Queen issued a statement on social media thanking her for winning the Robert Award.

She said: “I am deeply grateful, touched and proud that the Robert Prize has won this award.

“I am particularly pleased to have won an award that is bestowed by the industry itself, and it is a great pleasure and pleasure to have contributed to the representation of film.”

On New Year’s Eve, Queen Margrethe announced her intention to abdicate, allowing King Frederick X to succeed to the Danish throne on January 14th.

The new king and his wife Queen Mary kissed on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace and were proclaimed the new king and queen of Denmark.
