Jan. 4 (UPI) — Queen Margrethe of Denmark made her final public appearance on Thursday before her scheduled abdication on January 14th. It was as she headed to her New Year reception at Christiansborg Palace in a golden royal carriage.
The 83-year-old Queen suddenly announced her abdication on December 31st. The Queen has ruled for more than half a century.

The throne will be passed on to his eldest son, Crown Prince Frederick.
Her final days on the throne were filled with the usual royal extravaganza and ceremony, including a New Year’s banquet at Amalienborg Palace and a reception at Christiansborg Palace on Monday. Ta.

According to the Daily Mail, in sub-zero temperatures and strong winds, Queen Margrethe passed through Copenhagen in a golden carriage wearing a fur coat, escorted by a military regiment, in front of thousands of spectators.
