Must read

Following the great news that five major championships have been secured for 2024, RSPBANI has announced the dates for the remainder of the pipe band competition season in Northern Ireland.

The 13 dates announced have created a busy summer for Northern Ireland’s pipe bands, with even more of the feel-good factor of hosting the British Championships in Bangor and being part of the success story of saving the 2024 pipe band season. It will increase it. Press releases start below the date graphic.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland Branch Executives are delighted to announce that the dates for the Regional Championships for the 2024 season have been confirmed.

Through continued close collaboration with band representatives and two productive Pipe Major and Leading Drummer meetings, RSPBANI Executives have established a Local Champions Championship built around the five Major Championships currently confirmed. Agreed to a full season of Shipp.

The recent news that RSPBANI will host the first Major Championship of the season at Bangor’s Ward Park on May 18th has been welcomed by those near and far. In collaboration with RSPBA Headquarters and Ards and North Down Borough Council, the branch is delighted that the British Championships will be held in Northern Ireland again this year. Last week’s announcement that the final major of the season, the British Championships, would be held at Forres on June 8 meant the executive could finalize their own local event calendar. Although some of the venues have not been finalized yet, they wanted to update them. We encourage our bands and supporters to contact us as soon as possible so we can start planning for the summer months. The Executive will provide updated information regarding the exact venues for the remaining championships once confirmed with local councils.

We welcome the competition back to Enniskillen after a hiatus of several years and would like to thank everyone in County Fermanagh Section who have worked tirelessly to bring the championship back to the shores of Lough Erne.

The All-Ireland Championship is jointly run by the RSPBANI and IPBA and alternates between Northern Ireland and Ireland every two years. This season’s event will take place on Saturday 6th July at the beautiful Newbridge House in Donabate, County Dublin.

Branch President Alastair Patterson said: “I am once again delighted that plans are coming together for a fulfilling and exciting season. As President, I am grateful for the continued hard work and hard work of our branch officers over the coming weeks. I am very proud of this. I must also express my heartfelt thanks to all the Branch Managers for their continued support and of course the invaluable support we received in securing the British Championship. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the late John Hughes, vice chairman of headquarters, for his support. 2024 is shaping up to be a very fulfilling and enjoyable season. Feel every beat, hear every note, see every flourish”.

As always, the RSPBANI Executive would also like to thank local councils across Northern Ireland and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for their continued support in making our events possible and delivering an exciting music-filled season. I acknowledge the great contribution you have made.

Further details and updates will be announced in the coming weeks. We look forward to officially launching individual events on our website www.rspbani.org and on our social media channels.
