The popularity of all three cities increased by 2 points from the previous year.

“Finnish people are satisfied with their current municipality, neighborhood and life in their current home. For people considering moving to a new municipality, the most important criterion is the availability of reasonably priced housing, followed by neighborhood amenities, services offered, proximity to services, and transportation. He cited the ease of transportation.
“Work and workplace matters are important when moving to another municipality, but our research shows that they are not the most important factors that people value,” Mirimaki stressed.
“Often it is important that so-called daily life is smooth and effortless. Uusimaa was the most popular neighborhood in the survey, with almost half (48%) of respondents saying they could see themselves living there. The next most popular regions were Pirkanmaa, southwestern Finland, Lapland, central Finland, and Kantahame.

The market research firm collected approximately 3,700 responses for the survey at the end of 2023. The survey had a margin of error of 1.8 percentage points.
