Proposing an interdisciplinary concept with a mission to collaborate on new ideas, Oulu Dance Hack 2024 will be held from May 27 to 31, 2024 in the center of Oulu, northern Finland. As part of a large-scale project realized by TaikaBox (Finland) in partnership with Central European Dance Theater (Hungary) and Development Arts (Romania), Dance Hack in Finland will be followed by a festival in Budapest in November 2024 and Dance Hack will be held in Bucharest. An international call for submissions is now open until February 18th, and applications are welcome from artists, programmers, designers, musicians, dancers, and others who can demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and a focus on incorporating the moving body into their practice. Welcome.

Dance Hack brings you a safe space for exploration. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, participants will work together to experiment with the technology provided within the context of a performance. The program will also include a matching event on Thursday, May 30th, and conclude on the final day with informal idea sharing with a small invited audience.
Selected participants will be paid a fee and per diem based on the hacking period and travel days, and accommodation and travel expenses will also be covered. Because the Dance Hack project is committed to environmental sustainability, it is important that participants move slowly. Airplanes are prohibited. The organizers also want to ensure equality throughout the project and welcome applications from artists with special needs.
