The Kilkenny side had lost to Cork’s Dripsey at the same stage in 2009, but it was a day of revenge for Taloghagh as they dominated from the start, taking a 3-1 lead from talisman Walter Walsh.
Walsh and 19-year-old youngster Marty Murphy both found the winners’ net within the first quarter, and former Cork manager Dennis Walsh’s St Catharines were down 2-14-0 from that point on. Taking a break at 9 o’clock.
Taloghah attacker Cian O’Donoghue top-scored with 10 points, including a deftly converted sideline cut, and the starting forward line all scored from play, marking an excellent performance from the South Kilkenny team.
St. Catharines gave it their all and despite a late goal from Rory Galvin, it was just a consolation as Taloghah claimed a well-deserved success.
