2022 finalists Energywise Ireland Neptune got off to a bright start, leading by four points, 25-21, at the end of the first quarter.
Energy-wise, the Irish Neptunes extended their advantage in the second quarter, with Irish representative Jordan Blount standing out with 18 points by halftime, taking a 51-39 lead by halftime.
The UCC Demons had the upper hand in the third quarter, as coach Daniel O’Mahony’s team came back with a ferocious comeback and the impressive Seventh Woods hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to four points at 58-54. A minute later, both teams were tied at 58 points apiece thanks to a basket from James Beckham. David Lehane’s three in the final moments of the third inning drew an enthusiastic reaction from Demons fans who felt their team had momentum and the Demons would be up 72-68 by the end of the quarter.
