🇫🇮 Finland: Ale Broadcast Melody Festival 2024

Finnish public broadcaster Ale will once again broadcast the Melody Festival live to a nationwide audience.

Eel will broadcast Melody Festival 2024 live and delayed to viewers across Finland. The Swedish selection will be broadcast live on the streaming platform Yle Arena from 20:00 CET, with a delayed broadcast on Yle TV1 at 22:15 local time.

The Finnish broadcaster has been broadcasting Melody Festival on its channel for over 10 years. The contest was also broadcast with Swedish commentary via Yle Teema.

Melodifestivalen 2024 will be held in six cities in Sweden. Show dates, locations and host cities are as follows:

  • Heat 1: February 3 – Malmo Arena, Malmo
  • Heat 2: February 10 – Scandinavium, Gothenburg
  • Heat 3: February 17 – Vida Arena, Vaxjo
  • Heat 4: February 24 – Stiga Sports Arena, Eskilstuna
  • Heat 5: March 2 – Löfbergs Arena, Karlstad
  • Final: March 9th – Friends Arena, Stockholm

The participants of Melodfestivalen 2024, as well as which heats and in which order they will sing, have already been announced. The winner will follow in the footsteps of Loreen, who won Eurovision 2023 with the song ‘Tattoo’, giving Sweden their seventh victory in the competition.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, joining Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland finished last in this contest 10 times and received “invalid points” three times. Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. Rhodey represented his country in Athens, scoring a then-record total of 292 points with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah.”
