Yle has started releasing hints about the songs that will be competing in UMK 2024.
Finnish broadcasters have started an annual tradition of hinting at the songs that will represent Finland at Eurovision 2024. Here are the tips published for the first song in the selection:
- I’m not scared anymore
- Wet leather!
- Pedomelon a Minno
UMK2024
Candidates for UMK 2024 will be announced on Wednesday, January 10th at 19:00 CET. The announcement will be revealed during a broadcast on Yle TV1, Yle Arena, and UMK’s official YouTube channel. The broadcast, aimed at viewers around the world, will feature commentary in Finnish, Swedish and English.
After the grand announcement, the seven nominated songs will be released in stages from January 11th to January 19th, increasing anticipation. The planned release schedule is as follows:
- Thursday 11/1 – First nominated song
- 12/1(Fri) – 2nd nominated song
- Monday, January 15th – 3rd nominated song
- 16/1 Tuesday – 4th nominated song
- Wednesday, January 17th – 5th nominated song
- 1/18(Thu) – 6th nominated song
- Friday, January 19th – 7th nominated song
The grand finale of UMK 2024 in Tampere will take place on Saturday February 10th at 20:00 CET.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, debuting alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland finished last in this contest 10 times and received “invalid points” three times. Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. Rhodey represented his country in Athens, scoring a then-record total of 292 points with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah.”
