A woman in Denmark’s Oxford County town is accused of murdering two people, including her grandmother and her partner. Around 2 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Fuller Lane to check on the two people who lived there. When deputies arrived, they found two people dead inside. Zara Jones, 53, from Denmark, was taken to hospital for tests due to mental health concerns. She was later charged with two counts of murder. On Monday, prosecutors identified the victims as Jones’ grandmother, Alemian Mayo, 93, and Jones’ boyfriend, Michael Willett, 69. When police arrived at the home, Jones claimed Willett was out hunting, according to court documents. Police later learned that Willett was in a wheelchair and unable to hunt. Neighbors said Jones was caring for him and her grandmother. “She was basically there all the time,” neighbor Rick Young said. When police asked to search Mayo and Willett’s home, Jones was uncooperative and told a sheriff’s office sergeant to “kneel and pray because he’s a Montroll,” according to court documents.
